About Richard (종대)

Richard (종대) was born in Seoul, Korea. He was adopted by Mark and Jan. Mark went to Korea and brought him home to Vancouver, British Columbia when he was about 18 months. He has an adopted younger sister, Laura, who was also adopted from Korea by his parents.

Richard grew up enjoying summers on Bowen Island at the family's cabin or at his friends' family cabins. He loves to play sports, like ice hockey, roller hockey, golf, tennis and baseball. He has won a number of Bowen Island Hood Point golf and tennis tournaments over the years. Unfortunately, the family sold the cabin in 2013.

Richard loves hockey, whether it's roller hockey, ice hockey or professional ice hockey, like the NHL! His favourite team of all time, of course, is the Vancouver Canucks. His favourite hockey player is Trevor Linden! Therefore, you can imagine how happy he was to hear that Trevor Linden was hired as the President of Hockey Operations for the Vancouver Canucks in 2014.

Richard played a lot of recreational roller hockey and ice hockey. He retired his roller hockey blades in the summer of 2012. Upon his roller hockey retirement, he was: the captain and general manager of The Blades roller hockey team; the captain of the Blings roller hockey team; and the alternate captain for the Chicks and Sticks roller hockey team. He won his first roller hockey championship in the Vancouver Inline Hockey League (VIHL) while he was playing for the Blings.

Richard starting playing ice hockey in the Summer of 2010 on the Blings Spring Ice team. He is now playing ice hockey all year around on the winter and spring teams for the Blings and on Chicks & Sticks. He is the co-captain for both teams. His first ice hockey championship in Ice604 was during his first season, playing on Chicks & Sticks Spring Ice.

Though hockey has taken up a lot of his time he still loves to hit a few balls at the driving range or on a golf course and one of these days take up his skis again to hit the slopes.

Richard loves cars, so it's not surprising to see he is happily working at Aaron's Automotive, located in Tsawwassen near the Ferry Terminal as their service advisor, assistant manager.
