(From Sue Ann's
perspective)
Richard and I
encountered each other before while we were playing hockey on our respective
rivaling roller hockey teams in the Vancouver Inline Hockey League (VIHL).
Richard was the captain of The Blades. I was the captain of the Blings. We
didn't officially "meet" though.
We connected with
each other on Plenty of Fish (POF) when Richard sent me the first message.
After a day or two of messaging each other back and forth, he asked if I wanted
to join him and a friend at a driving range. I said no, however, he and I can
meet up the day after and go to the driving range ourselves. He agreed and the
date was set.
We officially met on
our first date at Savage Creek Driving Range in Richmond, BC on a Wednesday
evening in August 2009.
Leading up to the
first date, I was hoping that it's not that guy on The Blades. Turned out it
was HIM!
Richard told me he
was thinking along the same line too, hoping it wasn't that GIRL!
Though it was not a
love at first sight, we were both very open minded and gave the date our full
attention and effort.
Turned out to be
quite effortless...
We enjoyed a couple
of baskets of golf balls at the driving range, then continued the date which
lead us to enjoying some Blizzards at the Dairy Queen on Main Street, to a walk
around Prospect Point at Stanley Park to finally chilling out on a bench by the
Maritime Museum Ferry Dock.
The date ended
around 3 am...but that was just the start to a new chapter in both our lives…
NOTE: Members of
both our roller hockey teams were very upset we were dating each other...dating
the enemy...but after a while the teams combined and we're all one big happy
hockey family!
